Dr. Alie Yorgason

Award-winning pianist Alie Yorgason has appeared as soloist throughout the United States.  A native of Salt Lake City, Dr. Yorgason has appeared on NPR’s  “From the Top” radio show.  She has also performed in honors recitals at Libby Gardner Hall and the Assembly Hall at Temple Square. As a concerto winner in the University of Utah Summer Arts Festival, she enjoyed performing with the combined University/Utah Symphony Orchestra. 


Among her many awards and honors are Utah State Fair First Place winner, Con Brio performance and composition winner, Performance and composition honors at the Festival for Creative Pianists, UMTA Concerto Competition 2nd place winner, MTNA State First place winner in solo and duet piano performance, National MTNA First place Senior duet piano winner, and Snowy Range Piano Competition winner. Dr. Yorgason has also been privileged to perform in master classes for Mr. Gary Graffman, Mr. Antonio Pompa-Baldi, Ms. Wha Kyung Byun, and Dr. Arkady Aronov.


Alie earned her Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from Peabody Conservatory, where she studied with Ms. Yong Hi Moon.  She received her Doctoral of Musical Arts degree at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign where she studied with Dr. Ian Hobson.
